人文學門的中文、外文、哲學與音樂、劇藝等系所，涵蓋了文學、藝術、思想與 語言等領域，每一門學科各有其專業範圍，所謂「術業有專攻」是也。然而各領 域之間畢竟仍有交集之處。除了人文精神之外，跨文化情境也是不可忽略的一 環。例如，外文學門的研究對象雖來自海外，但我們卻用自身當地的語言及思維 模式去吸收轉化這些學問。中文系的學問雖來自古代，但我們不得不採用現代的 語言及思想去重整這些學問，而後者不可諱言地充滿源自西方的思考模式。哲學 所、音樂系和劇場藝術系原則上也不脫離這般的情況。海外也好，古代也好，都 在「此時此地」發生碰撞。

國立中山大學所在的西子灣，是個海陸交界的地方，也是個潮來潮往的不穩定地 帶，雖然不穩定，卻充滿了生命力。人文學其中一個使命乃關懷自身當下的文化 處境，讓外來與遠古的文化遺產透過跨文化對話在「此時此地」開花結果，展現 新文化氣象，進而開創新文化格局。

職是，本院與人文研究中心將於二〇一七年歲末舉辦「文化跨界中的人文研究」 國際研討會，呈現本院「文化跨界中的人文研究」計畫研究成果，也誠邀國內外 專家學者共襄盛舉，針對下列主題發表中文或英文論文：

(1) 文化認同與文化翻譯                            (5) 跨文化情境下的音樂

(2) 跨太平洋詩學與臺灣文學外譯           (6) 跨文化思維中的生態意識

(3) 東西文化與思想交流                            (7) 跨文化情境與語言表達

(4) 跨文化哲學與美學                                 (8)  跨文化情境下的戲劇、視覺藝術與 文化生產

Humanities disciplines—Chinese, foreign languages, philosophy, music, drama, literature, arts, and linguistics—each has its own specialty and mastery but at the same time shares commonalities. Aside from the spirit of humanities, cross-cultural context is one of the quintessential characteristics. For instance, even though foreign literature’s primary sources originate overseas, local languages and thought paradigms are employed to absorb and transform the thoughts. The knowledge of Chinese studies is derived from the ancient time, but Western thought paradigm inscribed in modern languages and concepts is adopted to rethink the knowledge. The same happens in disciplines of philosophy, music, and drama. As such, the overseas paradigm and the knowledge of the ancient time both collide “here and now.” National Sun-Yat sen University is located in Cizi Bay where the land and the ocean meet, which implies that it is at once unstable but dynamic and stimulating. One of the tasks of the humanities is to celebrate the local culture in the contemporary society and engage with foreign cultures and cultural heritages through cross-cultural references, in hope of enriching our own culture.

Thus, College of Liberal Arts and Center of Humanities of National Sun-Yat sen University invite international and nation-wide scholars to join 2017 international conference on “Cross-Cultural Studies and the Humanities.” The topics include, but not limited to:

(1) cultural identities and cultural translation

(2) trans-Pacific poetics and translation of Taiwanese literature

(3) encounters of East/West cultures and thoughts

(4) cross-cultural philosophy and aesthetics

(5) environmental consciousness in cross-cultural contexts

(6) cross-cultural contexts and language communications

(7) music and drama in cross-cultural contexts

(8) visual arts and cross-cultural productions in cross-cultural contexts
